ART INSPIRED BY THE TRAGIC EVENTS OF 7th OCTOBER
One difference between people in Gaza and people in Israel in the present conflict between the two is that people in Israel are still able to express themselves in paint. This is obviously a lot harder in Gaza.
In these works, clearly influenced by the figurative style of Pablo Picasso, Israeli artist Zoya Cherkassky-Nnandi has painted the sense of fear and horror that gripped Israeli citizens when they were caught up in Hamas's sudden and brutal attack on Israel on October 7th, 2023.
Cherkassky-Nnadi was born in Kyiv in 1976 and migrated to Israel in 1991. She is married to a Nigerian labour migrant, hence her double-barrelled name.
